Flight Cost: $405 versus Budgeted: $600
Cost of Rail Pass: $1,543 versus Budgeted: $2,000
Cost of Visa: $42 versus Budgeted: $40
Cost per day: $85 versus Budgeted: $121
Despite being under or on budget in all of the categories, we left the country spending more than anticipated. This was partly due to the more than expected cost of food and alcohol, but the main reason was because trains did not travel as often as desired which caused us to stay in the country longer than planned.
