Below are our expenses and how they compared to our budget (in USD):
Cost of Transportation: $97 versus Budgeted: $300
Cost of Visa: $221 versus Budgeted: $160
Cost per day: $33 versus Budgeted: $31
Despite being slightly over budget on our daily expenses and our cost of visa, we were able to save approximately 12% on of our overall budget for Vietnam. These savings were also in spite of deciding to take a few tours in Vietnam, which we usually avoid to save money and avoid crowds. The visa cost us more due to expediting the process instead of waiting longer for it in Singapore and possibly having to spend more in accommodation and other expenses. Most of the savings came from the less than anticipated cost of transportation.
