Below are our expenses and how they compared to our budget (in USD):

Due to incorrect information from the Russian Embassy, we stayed in Mongolia more than twice as much time as anticipated. We were fortunate to not pay for any accommodation while we were in Ulaanbaatar, which was 70% of our visit, therefore lowered our daily expenses. We also ended up splitting in half the allocated budget for the Trans-Mongolian/Siberian between Mongolia and Russia, which in addition to the few buses we took in Mongolia we still came under our transportation budget. All this resulted in an overall savings of 21% for Mongolia.
