Norway

Sights and Activities

Below are the places we saw and activities completed while visiting Norway:

Oslo
  • Oslo Opera House: opened in 2008, this opera house resembles a glacier floating in the water. The cool sloped roofs are accessible by foot and give you nice views of the city.

  • Akershus Festning and Slott – Fortress and Castle: walked around, beautiful trees, old structures and castle, and fortress walls. King Håkon V began construction of the fortress in 1299. We enjoyed the beautiful colors of autumn in the complex filled with tree-lined twisting paths, fortress walls, and the medieval castle.

Frognerparken & Vigeland Park
  • Frognerparken & Vigeland Park: this extraordinary park showcases granite and bronze sculptures by Norway’s Gustav Vigeland.  The sculptures are interesting poses of kids, men, women, and elderly.

  • Munch Museum and National Art Gallery: we tried going to both of these art galleries to see Edvard Munch’s work, but they were both closed for renovation…
