Scuba Diving in the Red Sea

Scuba Diving in the Red Sea was on our list to do prior to starting this adventure around the world. We arrived to Dahab, Egypt on May 18, 2014 and made all the arrangements for diving the next day to celebrate Gisela’s 32nd birthday underwater 🙂

Most of the diving sites around Dahab are accessible by shore but the one we explored, Gabr el-Bint, was only reachable by boat. We had an early start and prepared all the equipment necessary for two immersions. The moment we entered into the Red Sea we were fascinated by the contrast of its blue waters and dramatic seascape of walls cut by numerous corals, sand, and marine life. Shortly after entering the waters, the presence of a great barracuda, the biggest we have ever seen, reminded us that we were entering into a world of wonders. The visibility was perfect that day, we were fortunate to swim next to anemone fish, bluespotted stingray, bluefin trevally, coral grouper, masked pufferfish, yellowspoted pufferfish, steepheaded parrotfish, rusty parrotfish, royal angelfish, bannerfish, scorpion fish, and many more.

The Red Sea is a treasure we were happy to dip our souls into. This is a splendid destination for sea lovers and a place we hope to return one day. We hope you enjoy some of our pictures from this memorable day 🙂
