Greece has beautiful islands, but visiting them is either by airplane or ferry, both expensive, so we choose ferry because it was more affordable. But we did have to buy a last minute flight due to a ferry cancellation. Therefore all the boats and the flight made us go over budget on the transportation cost. Before arriving to Greece, we foresaw these potential extra costs and we made an effort to save where we can, for example cooking as many meals, camping whenever we could, and not scuba dive as we wanted. This resulted in a savings on the cost per day and surprisingly a 12% savings on the total budget for the country.
