Below are our expenses and how they compared to our budget (in USD):
Cost of Transportation: $228 versus Budgeted: $200
Cost per day: $35 versus Budgeted: $67
Uruguay is an expensive country, even the locals know it! 40% of the transportation expenses were just on the ferry to cross over from Buenos Aires. This resulted in the over budget of the transportation costs. We only paid accommodation in Montevideo and it was not cheap… at least relatively speaking. But the generosity of our Uruguayan hosts helped us save on our daily expenses. This let us stay twice as long as anticipated and only over spend 3% of the overall country budget.
