We had originally planned to visit Cuba from Mexico, but decided to visit Cuba earlier from Costa Rica, but we were still able to get our roundtrip flight within budget. The problem was that we did not budget any transportation costs in the country, because we had originally planned to only visit Havana and not travel the whole island as we did. We were fortunate to pay less for the entry visa or tourist card. Although we were able to spend less in our daily costs, the fact that we spent more than twice as many days than we had planned, along with our transportation costs, resulted in being over budget by 37% in the overall country budget.
