We decided we wanted to spend a good amount of time in Brazil and we did!! Spending more than three times as many days as we had anticipated. We spent more than budgeted in transportation costs because of the vast size of the country and simply that the country is not cheap. We were fortunate to find enough CouchSurfing hosts to bring our daily expenses less than budgeted. And our Latin American passports helped in not having to spend money on a visa. All this resulted in being over budget by a terrifying 89% in the overall country budget.
