Longest Zip Line in Latin America!
On May 5, 2016, we had a full rush of adrenaline while doing a canopy tour in Santa Elena, Costa Rica. The 3-hour tour included a rope bridge, rappel, traditional style zip-lines, superman style zip-lines, and a mega swing. This adventure took us flying along what the company claimed to be the longest zip line in Latin America: 1590 meters (5217 feet)!
Zip-lining between and above the thick cloud forest with an open view of the horizon with the fresh wind in our face was an amazing experience of liberty and vulnerability all at once. Mixed feelings of joy and anxiety ran through our heads when we traveled along the metal rope as we felt for the first time like birds, but at the same time thinking of the worse possible outcome… Regardless it was simply amazing!!
At the end, we were brave enough to also do a mega swing known as the Tarzan Swing: falling off from a platform 45 meters (148 feet) high, a total free fall of 35 meters (115 feet). The sensation was horrible, but the adrenaline boost after conquering our fear made it all worth it. Costa Rica is Pura Vida (Pure Life)!! š
