Below are our expenses and how they compared to our budget (in USD):
Cost of Transportation: $427 versus Budgeted: $600
Cost of Visa: $376 versus Budgeted: $400
Cost per day: $30 versus Budgeted: $31
India is a country full of extremes and that was also reflected in our expenses. At the beginning of our trip, we endured extreme hot temperatures that forced us to book air conditioned rooms which were not originally part of our budget. Towards the end of our time in the country, when the monsoon season arrived, we were able to cool off temperature wise and also our costs. Overall we were able to save 16% of our budget in India which mainly came from spending a few days less than anticipated and being able to save on accommodation a few times.
