Below are our expenses and how they compared to our budget (in USD):
Cost of Transportation: $1,838 versus Budgeted: $1,700
Cost per day: $51 versus Budgeted: $85
We were in Japan about two more weeks than anticipated, no complaints at all there. By being very fortunate to pay only one night of accommodation on our entire visit, we were able to spend significantly less per day than budgeted and came in at 100% of our overall budget for the country. In regards to transportation, the rail pass and ferry costs came within budget, but we were slightly over budget due to buying a few more trains that fell outside of our rail pass range.
