Below are the places we saw and activities completed while visiting Sweden:
Kiruna
Kiruna Kyrka: this local Lutheran Church was designed to mimic a mountain cottage.
Loussavaara Hill: we enjoyed great views of this small town and its surroundings including the engine of the city, the iron mine.
Stockholm
Nordiska Museet – National Museum of Cultural History: this museum displayed the history of Swedish culture including the home interior, the Sami people, folk art, fashion, and their traditions.
Kungliga Slottet – Royal Palace: the palace with 608 rooms makes it the largest royal palace in the world. With the high cost of entering the palace and the boring displays, we regretted entering.
Storkyrkan Cathedral: the Royal Cathedral of Sweden was built in 1306.
Gamila Stan (old town): we enjoyed a stroll through the oldest and most beautiful part of Stockholm.
Arkitekturmuseet – Museum of Architecture: this small museum displayed 1,000 years of Swedish architecture and models of existing buildings. There was also an exhibit on modern sculptures.
Ferry Ride around the Stockholm Bay: we took advantage of a beautiful, but cold, day to take the public ferry around the bay. We enjoyed the beautiful landscape of buildings and trees as the abutted against the shorelines.
