Below are our expenses and how they compared to our budget (in USD):
Cost of Transportation: $341 versus Budgeted: $400
Cost of Visa: $200 versus Budgeted: $200
Cost per day: $60 versus Budgeted: $106
Tanzania is a relatively expensive country for tourists, especially if you do touristy things like we did, such as go to Zanzibar and do a safari. Despite being under budget in transportation, our cost per day, and on budget with the visas we were still over budget by 51% in the overall budget of the country. The main reason for this was mentioned above, but being there more than three times as long as anticipated did not help our case either.
